CALL MEETING TO ORDER 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. ROLL CALL Keith Blum P, Stephen Sprenkle P, John Acosta P Virgil Whitehead P Terry Jensen P_ Tony Stewart P, Bob Bailey_E Commissioner Sprenkle arrived at 6:07pm. Commissioner Acosta left at 6:30pm. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Tony Stewart moved to approve minutes of February 19, 2014 as written. Commissioner John Acosta seconded the motion, and it carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 —Blum, Sprenkle, Acosta, Whitehead, Jensen, Stewart and Bailey ACTION ITEMS • DVBE Update / evaluation and discussion of final documentation to be prepared by legal for City Council Action. Chair Keith Blum to email draft of documentation to commissioners. • Commissioner Sprenkle's absence from April's meeting: Commissioner Terry Jensen moved to approve Commissioner Stephen Sprenkle's absence from the April 16, 2014 meeting. Commissioner Tony Stewart seconded the motion, and it carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 —Blum, Acosta, Whitehead, Jensen, Stewart and Bailey • Commissioner Stewart's absence from February's meeting: Commissioner John Acosta moved to approve Commissioner John Stewart's absence from the February 19, 2014 meeting. Commissioner Stephen Sprenkle seconded the motion, and it carried by the following vote: Yes: 6 —Blum, Acosta, Whitehead, Jensen, Sprenkle and Bailey • Recognition of businesses who hire/support veterans in Chula Vista: Commissioner Whitehead moved to draft a letter to Mayor Cox asking City of Chula Vista present Home Depot with a proclamation of appreciation. Commissioner John Acosta seconded the motion and it carried by the following vote: Yes 7 -Blum, Sprenkle, Acosta, Whitehead, Jensen, Stewart and Bailey. OPEN DISCUSSION Commissioner Whitehead shared the Veteran's Activities Report for March 2014. CHAIR'S COMMENTS ADJOURNMENT: Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Chula Vista Veterans Home, 700 E.
