HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2002-282 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-282 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA WAIVING BUSINESS LICENSE TAXES FOR CHULA VISTA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND VENDORS PARTICIPATING 1N THE CELEBRATE CHULA VISTA EVENT WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Chula Vista and the Port of San Diego, to present the new Celebrate Chula Vista Festival in Marina View Park on August 25, 2002; and WHEREAS, this event celebrates and promotes Chula Vista's finest and most unique attributes including: Cultural diversity A thriving economy and business sector Continued growth and development Sports and youth WHEREAS, Celebrate Chula Vista is expected to attract 30,000 attendees from throughout Chula Vista and elsewhere in San Diego County, and will feature a variety of live entertainment along with approximately 150 arts, crafts and food vendors; and WHEREAS, many of the vendors participating will already possess a Chula Vista business license, but the non-local vendors will not; and WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce requests that the Council waive the business license taxes for the Chamber of Commerce and for vendors taking part in the event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby waive business license taxes for Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce and vendors participating in the Celebrate Chula Vista event.
