OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Monday January 29, 1968
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista was held in the Council Chambers on the above date at 2:30 P.M., with the
following Councilmen present: Councilmen McCorquodale, Anderson, Sylvester
Absent: Councilmen McAllister~ Sparling
Also present: City Attorney Lindberg, Administrative Officer
Ross, Planning Director Warren, Associate Planner
Manganelli, Administrative Assistant Sullins
CONSIDERATION OF qUESTIONS TO BE USED IN SPECIAL CENSUS
Administrative Officer Ross reviewed the item on the agenda of January 23,
pertaining to consideration of questions to be asked in the special census to be
taken, beginning the middle of February. Mr. Ross read a letter from the Chamber
of Commerce in which they thanked the Council for the invitation to participate
but, after discussion at their meeting, it was decided they would not participate
in the cost nor the asking of questions for the census.
2:45 P.M. - Councilman McAllister took his seat at the Council table at this time.
After numerous suggestions for questions submitted by all the Councilmen
present and discussion, it was moved by Councilman McCorquodale that the follow-
ing four questions be asked: in-city transportation need, number of vehicles
regularly parked overnight at each household, purchase of water company, and urban
renewal. The motion died for lack of a second.
It was moved by Councilman McCorquodale that the following four questions
be asked: in-city transportation need, purchase of water company, number of ve-
hicles regularly parked overnight at each household, and housing unit rented or
owner-occupied. The motion died for lack of a second.
It was then moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman McCor-
quodale, and carried that the original four questions suggested by the staff be
used in the census taking. Councilman Anderson voted no. The questions are as
follows:
(a) In what geographical area does the principal wage earner in this
household work?
(b) At what occupation is the principal wage earner usually employed?
(c) How many motor vehicles (including assigned company vehicles but
excluding motorcycles) are regularly kept overnight by members of
this household?
(d) Is this housing unit rented or owner-occupied?
Mayor Sylvester adjourned the meeting at 3:05 P.M., sine die.
