HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1969/05/21 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Wednesday May 21, 1969 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was held at 8:00 A.M., on the above date with the following Councilmen present: Councilmen Sy~vester, Hamilton, McCorquodale, McAllister, Scott Absent: None Also present: ~ Administrative Officer pro tem Sullins, Assistant Administrative Officer Thomson, Finance Officer Grant BUDGET SESSION (1) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that to the Capital Improvement Program be added relocation of Fire Station No. 2, Phase 1, in the amount of $50,000.00. (2) It was moved by Councilman Hamilton, seconded by Councilman McAllister, and carried that to the Personnel department be added one position of Clerk II. Councilmen Scott and Sylvester voted no. (3) It was moved by Councilman Sylvester, seconded by Councilman McAllister, and carried that to the Personnel department equipment be added one desk at a cost of $150.00. (4) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Hamilton, and carried that in the Administration department the position of one administrative aide be deleted. (5) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that in the Administration department the position of one senior ad- ministrative assistant be added. (6) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that out-of-pocket expenses for one additional administrative intern in the Administration department in the amount of $200.00 be transferred from the Mayor and Council account. (7) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that the position of one administrative interm be deleted from the Mayor and Council account and added to the Administration department. (8) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that the position of one secretary to the Commissions be deleted. (9) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that postage ($200.00) and telephone service (~100.00) be deleted for Boards and Commissions. (10) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Hamilton, and carried that the Sister City Travel Fund be reduced by $1,000.00 (retain $500.00). (11) It was moved by Councilman McAllister, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that printing for Boards and Commissions be deleted (Xerox, $200.00). (12) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried to reduce the Civic Center Newsletter budget to $4,500.00. Councilman McAllister voted no. (13) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried to delete the amount of $809.00 for office equipment for Boards and Com- missions. (14) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that approval be given for $35,000 as proposed for City Promotions, subject to individual item of expenditure approval by Council action. 2:00 P.M. - Council adjourned until 4:00 P.M. for salary hearings (15) It was moved by Councilman Sytvester, seconded by Coumcilman Hamil- ton, and carried that in the Finance Department salary account, an increase of $250.00 be added for Business License Inspector (hourly rate to $2.75). (16) It was moved by Councilman Sylvester, seconded by Councilman Hamil- ton, and carried that the cost of Urban Affairs Reports in the amount of $350.00 be transferred from the Finance Department ~o the Administration Department. (t7) It was moved by Councilman Hamiltom, seconded by Councilman Sylves- ter, and carried that $500.00 for Jobs for Youth be added to the Miscellaneous Salary account. (18) It was moved by Councilman Hamilton, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that one custodian (9 months) be deleted from the Building Maintenance Division salary account. (19) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that $5,000 be budgeted for Little League rest rooms in the Capital Improvement program, Parks and Recreation section. The Little League is to con- tribute an equal $5,000. (20) It was moved by Councilman Hamilton, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that $16,000 be budgeted for an automatic sprinkler system for the Golf Course, holes 1 through 5, in the Capital Improvement program. (21) It was moved by Councilman Sylvester, seconded by Councilman Hamil- ton, and carried that $2,000 be budgeted for office lighting in the Capital Im- provement program, Parks and Recreation section. 4:45 P.M. - Councilman Scott left the Council table at this time. (22) It was moved by Mayor McCorquodale, seconded by Councilman Sylvester, and carried that $t0,000 be budgeted for Youth Center in the Capital Improvement program. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 P.M. City Clerk
