CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Hold Monday May 25, 1970
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista was held in the Council Chamber on the above date at 3:00 P.M., with the
following Councilmen present: Scott, Hobel~ Hamilton, Nyde~ Egdahl
Absent: None
Also present: City Attorney Lindberg, Administrative Officer Thorn,
Assistant Administrative Officer Thomson, Recreation
Director Jasinek, Building and Housing Director Grady
RESOLUTION NO. 5655 - Approving agreement with SweetWater Junior College District
for construction of tennis courts and related facilities
Offered by Councilman Scott, the reading of the text was waived by unan-
imous consent, passed and adopted by the following vote, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Scott, Hobel~ Hamilton, Hyde~ Egdahl
Noes: None
Absent: None
~'DISCUSSION ON REMODELING OF THE ADM~ISTRATIVEWING OF THE CIVIC CENTER
Chief Administrative Officer Thorn reviewed his memo to the Council on
the need for additional office space for personnel in his office~ and urged that
the Council approve his recommendation that the hallway immediately south of the
Administrative office, from the Mayor's office to the west entrance, be used to
provide office space for three employees.
After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Hyde, seconded by Council-
man Hobel, and carried that the recon~nendations of the Administrative Officer
for remodeling of the hallway south of his office be approved~ and the City
Attorney be directed to prepare a resolution which would effect the recommended
changes in the amount of $17155.28 from the unappropriated surplus of the General
Fund. Councilman Scott voted no.
It was suggested by Councilman Hyde that the walkway leading to the west
doorway of the hall not be eliminated at this time in case of future need.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Egdahl, and
carried that the Council adjourn to executive session at the end of this meeting.
REQUEST FOR PRSGRESS REPORT ON LOMA VERDE POOL
Councilman Hobel requested that the staff give a progress report on the
Loma Verde pool~ if possible at the meeting of May 26. Councilman Scott asked
that the Council be informed as to the number of days' extension of time on the
contract the City Engineer has granted to the contractor.
Councilman Egdahl suggested that the pool architect be asked to be
present at the meeting of May 26~ and Mayor Hamilton asked that the superintend-
ent of the project be asked to be present also.
REQUEST FOR REPORT ON REPLACEMENT OF CITY CLERK
Councilman Hobel asked that the Council be given a report on progress
made to date by the Personnel department in filling the position of City Clerk
when the present Clerk retires in September.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Hamilton adjourned the meeting at 4:15 P.M., to executive session.
City Clerk
