HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1970/06/10 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURIqED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Wednesday June 10, 1970 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was held in the Council Chamber on the above date at 4:00 P.Mo, with the following Councilmen present: Councilmen Scott, Hobel, Hyde, Egdahl Absent: Mayor Hamilton Also present: Administrative Officer Thorn, Assistant Administrative Officer Thomson, Finance Officer Grant, Fire Chief Lee, Building and Housing Director Grady, Parks and Recreation Director Jasinek In the absence of Mayor Hamilton, Mayor pro tem Scott presided. ACTION TAKEN AT BUDGET SESSION - Fire Department (continued) Fire Chief Lee having been told at the June 8, meeting to restore the $42,425 holiday and overtime account which he had deleted from his budget, pro- ceeded to explain to the Council the subsequent cuts he has made to his budget. (1) It was moved by Councilman Hyde, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that at least tentatively, the amount of the contract with the Bonita- Sunnyside Fire Bistrict be restored to the budget ($8,650). (2) It was moved by Councilman Egdahl, seconded by Councilman Hyde, and carried that the Fire Department budget be accepted with the cuts as proposed by the Chief, with the exception of the Bonita-Sunnyside Fire District contract having been added back as well as two firemen for 12 months ($17,840). Councilman Hyde suggested, and the Council concurred, that a list be started of all items classed by the Council as critical for re-examination after having gone through the budget. ACTION TAKEN AT BUDGET SESSION ~ Building and Housing (1) It was moved by Gouncilman Hyde, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried that personal services, contractural services, commodities and capital outlay in Building Administration (2411) be approved tentatively, as submitted and cut by the Building and Housing Director. 6:55 P.M. - Mayor Hamilton took his seat at the Council table. (2) It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman Scott, and carried that the reductions as proposed in contractural services, commodities and capital outlay (2420) be tentatively approved. (3) It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Hyde, and carried that all of the Building Maintenance budget (3400) be accepted, as amended, with the position of one custodian being put on the critical list. (4) It was moved by Councilman Hyde, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried that proposed reductions in the capital outlay portion of Building Maint- enance (3400) be accepted with $4,000 being plac@d on the critical list for repairs to the Youth Center and specifically earmarked for safety hazard items. ACTION TAKEN AT BUDGET SESSION - Parks and Recreation Departments (1) It was moved by Councilman Egdahl and seconded by Councilman Hyde that Parks and ~ecr~at~a administration (41tl) and training (4112) be accepted in total with changes as recommended. Motion failed with all voting no. (2) It was moved by Councilman Hyde, seconded by Councilman Hobel, and carried that $560 be stricken from Parks and Recreation administration (4111) contracturat services (travel) and $1,980 be tentatively reinstated to capital outlay (automotive equipment, 1 sedan).
