OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Monday November 23, 1970
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was held
on the above date in the Administrative Conference Room, in the Civic Center, 276
Fourth Avenue, beginning at 6 P.M., with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen Scott~ Hamilton, Hyde, Egdahl
Absent: Councilman Hobel
Also present: Acting Chief Administrative Officer Thomson, City Attorney Lind-
berg
Mayor Hamilton called the meeting to order, explaining that action by the
Council was needed in regard to whether or not they wished to approve the pro-
posal as submitted by the Port District to complete the arm at the foot of "J"
Street and let the contract for the small boat ramp for this facility. He would
also ask consideration in holding in abeyance any other construction until such
time as the study that has been authorized by the Council and the Port District
for the tidelands has been completed.
Councilman Scott related the discussion that took place at the meeting
with the Port District representatives in regard to the fact that they would
lose the $295,000 grant for the boat harbor facility. This money must be expended
in this fiscal budget (by June, 1971). They did assure the City, however, that
this boat facility and the proposed marina could be two separate projects.
It was moved by Councilman Scott, seconded by Councilman Egdahl, and unan-
imously carried that the Council give approval to the Port District to proceed
with their plans for construction of a boat launching ramp and arm at the foot
of "J" Street; also to hold in abeyance any further action on the proposed marina
until such time as the study that has been authorized by the City Council and the
Port District for the tidelands has been completed.
Mayor Hamilton adjourned the meeting at 5:12 P.M.
