Chula Vista Veterans Park Brick Program update. Update on Recreation Director, Kristi McClure Huckaby’s discussion with Friends of the Park regarding sharing of the proceeds from the Veterans Brick program with the Veterans Home Foundation. Recommendation: Commission hear update. b. Fallen Veteran Memorial at Memorial Park. Update on New School of Architecture and Design Urban studies class’ VAC proposal for Fallen Veteran Memorial at Memorial Park. Recommendation: Commission hear update. c. Fallen Heroes Banners at Chula Vista Mall. Discussion on Commissioner Torres’ contact with management to discuss possible displaying of Fallen Hero banners at Chula Vista Mall. Recommendation: Commission hear update. d. Veteran of the Year 2017 applications. Discussion of 2017 application deadline, advertisement and getting the word out on getting nominations. Recommendation: Commission discuss item. VETERANS ADVISORY COMMISSION e. Veterans Stand Down Funds Request: Discussion of submittal of funds request to the City to go towards the annual “Stand Down” event for homeless veterans in San Diego. Recommendation: Commission discuss item. f. Veteran’s Administrations “Million Veteran Program”. The “Million Veteran Program” is half way to their goal of enrolling 1 million veterans in the genomic research database to help improve health care for Veterans and Americans. Discussion whether VAC/City of Chula Vista should support this program. Recommendation: Commission discuss item. g. Location change for VAC monthly meetings. Discussion and vote on permanently changing the location of all regular VAC meetings from the Chula Vista Veterans Home to the Chula Vista Police Department. Recommendation: Commission discuss and vote on item. h. Veterans Activities Report: Commissioner Torres’ report on Veterans Activities for the month of March 2017.
