OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Friday August 20, 1971
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista was
held in the Council Chamber, 276 Fourth Avenue, on the above date at 7:00 P.M.,
with the following Councilmen present:
Councilmen Scott, Hobel, Hamilton, Hyde
Absent: Councilman Egdahl
Also present: City Manager Thomson, City Attorney Lindberg, Assistant City
Manager Bourcier~ Senior Planner Williams, Associate Civil

PUBLIC HEARING RECONVENED - Mayor Hamilton opened the meeting by stating
SWEETWATER VALLEY ANNEXATION the hearing was reconvened for the purpose
of hearing and receiving protests on the
annexation of Sweetwater Valley to Chula Vista.
Robert Terry, Attorney for Mr. Terry submitted at this time one additional
Valley Planning Association protest petition.
Legal opinion given - City Attorney Lindberg stated no further pro-
City Attorney Lindberg tests nor withdrawals of names from protest
petitions will be received after the closing
of this hearing. He also stated the City
has 30 days in which to examine the petitions,
announce the results and call an election, if
protest petitions are not sufficient.
Verification of names requested Mr. Terry asked if the City would provide
further verification of names on protest
petitions already submitted. City Attorney
Lindberg stated the City would take the most
"liberal" attitude and would assist protesters
in verifying names with the assessor's rolls.
Gordon Campbell, Annexation Mr. Campbell stated the Valley Planning Asso-
protester ciation will demand a complete accounting of
all petitions that have been filed. He
further stated this Stoup feels that efforts
to annex the Valley have been defeated.
Joseph Janosik~ Valley Annexation Mr. Janosik requested a copy of names sub-
protester mitted who have withdrawn from protest peti-
tions. Mayor Hamilton stated the names would
be made available.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Hamilton adjourned the meeting at 7:12
P.M. to the meeting scheduled for Monday,
August 23, 1971, at 3 P.M.
