HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2002-220 RESOLUTION NO. 2002-220 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ASSESSING DELINQUENT SOLID WASTE SERVICE CHARGES AS LIENS LrPON THE RESPECTIVE PARCELS OF LAND AND APPROVING PLACEMENT OF DELINQUENT CHARGES ON THE NEXT REGULAR TAX BILL WHEREAS, in October, 1998, the City Council amended Chapter 8.24 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code to establish collection methods for delinquent solid waste service accounts to be placed on the property tax bill for collection; and WHEREAS, the ordinance states upon notification of the property owners, a public hearing is set for solid waste service accounts which are over sixty days delinquent; and WHEREAS, at the hearing, the City Council is to consider the delinquent accounts together with any objections or protests by interested parties; and WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the heating, the City Council may either approve the delinquency and amount owed on the accounts as submitted or as modified or corrected by the City Council; and WHEREAS, a public hearing on delinquent assessments was properly noticed for June 18, 2002, at which all protests or objections presented were considered by the City Council; and WHEREAS, staff is recommending that the City Council approve the final listing of delinquent solid waste senfice accounts as submitted and that these charges be forwarded to the County for placement on the next regular tax bill for collection; and WHEREAS, any delinquent accounts that are cleared by June 17, 2002, as a result of the public hearing set for June 18, 2002, will be removed from the list prior to the submittal of these charges to the County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby (1) overrule any and all protests or objections presented at the public hearing and (2) approve, with respect to the delinquent account list presented by staff and on file in the office ct' the City Clerk, assessing delinquent solid waste service charges as liens upon the respective parcels of land and the placement of such delinquent charges on the next corresponding regular tax bill unless cleared by June 17, 2002.
