RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NOS. 2 AND
3 FOR THE PHASE I OF THE SALT CREEK GRAVITY
SEWER INrERCEPTOR (PROJECT SW-219), AND THE
MAIN STREET PAVEMENT RECONSTRUCTION, BETWEEN
BROADWAY AND INTERSTATE 805 (PROJECT STM-332),
AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
TO EXECUTI5 SAID CHANGE ORDERS ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY
WHEREAS, on September 18, 2001, the City Council approved Resolution No.
2001-313 awarding a contract in the amount of $8,729,617.75 (plus contingencies of $875,000)
to Hazard Construction Company/'r.c. Construction, Inc., a joint venture for the installation of a
42-inch gravity sewer line within Main Street between Broadway and Interstate 805 (SW-219)
and also includes the reconstruction of the street pavement section on main street, between
Broadway and Interstate 805 (STM-332); and
WHEREAS, proposed Change Order No. 2, in the amount of $70,768 is for additional
work and equipment to increase the depth of the sewer between Otay Valley Road and Interstate
805 that was made necessary by revisions to the design of the sewer in the next phase of
construction east of Interstate 805; and
WHEREAS, proposed Change Order No. 3, in the amount of $76,036 is for additional
labor, equipment, and materials necessary to remove and replace an existing shallow and
deteriorated 42" Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) on Main Street that is no longer able to support
traffic loads with a 36" diameter Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby approve Change Orders Nos. 2 and 3 for the Phase I of the Salt Creek Gravity
Sewer Interceptor (SW-219) and for Main Street Pavement Reconstruction, between Broadway
and Interstate 805 (STM-332).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works of the City of Chula
Vista is hereby authorized and directed to execute said change orders on behalf of the City of
Chula Vista.
