ONE-YEAR EXTENSIONS WHEREAS, the Living Coast Discoven� Center was pre�iously part of the City of Chula Vista operations. as the Chula Vista Nature Center; and R'HEREAS. in 2010, the Chula Vista ?�'amre Center became a stand-alone entirv. the Livine Coast Discoven� Center: and R'HEREAS, prior to the transfer to the Li��ine Coast Discovery Center, the City's Em�ironmental Sen�ices Section built a compost demonstration site and outside lecture shelter to host dasses and ��fiich included the use of the Namre Center Auditorium for e��enine composting workshops; and � N'HEREAS, the Em�ironmental Sen�ices Section managed ��eekl}� composting ���orkshops, master composting courses; and compost public education with the assistance of the Livine Coast Discovery Center staff at the compost demonstration site; and - V�'HEREAS. the City finds tha[ the Livine Coast Discovery Center has unique and specialized qualifications, includine holdine the Cit}�`s compost program demonstration azea on their property, and possessing the unique espenise and experience to pro��ide educational semices that include previous maintenance of the program`s member network, and connections to local school districts For the purpose of hosting tours and presentations on their property. NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED b�� the Cirv Council of the Cit�� of Chula Vista that it appro��es the agreement for the Cit�� of Chula Vista's back}�azd compostine proeram, bet�veen [he Citv and The Li��ins Coast Disco��erv Cenrec in the form presented; ���ith such minor modifications as may be required or appro��ed b�� the City Attorne��. a copy of���hich shall be kept on file in the Office of the Cit�� Clerk, and authorizes and directs the Mavor to eaecute same. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED b�� the Cit�� Council of the Cit�� of Chula Vista. that it hereb� does: Resolution No. 2016-209 Paee No. 2 1) Based on the findings in the above recitals which are hereby incorporated herein presented in support of this action, waive the competitive bid requirement. 2) Appro��e the agreement from the Living Coast Discovery Center to provide compost program site maintenance and compost program educational services for the City of Chula Vista's backyard composting program. 3) Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute three, one-year options to extend said agreement as needed.
