Mayor Casillas Salas recognized new U.S. Army recruits from Chula Vista.
Mayor Casillas Salas announced, pursuant to AB 23, thaf she and each Councilmember would receive
S50 for their attendance at this Housing Authonty meefing, being held simulfaneously with the City
Council meeting.

Finance Director Bilby and Public Works Director Hopkins gave a presentation on the item.
Council discussion ensued regarding the item.
The following members of the public spoke in support of funds being budgeted to renovate the
restrooms at the Civic Center Branch Library:
- Shauna Stokes, Chula Visfa resident, representing the Friends of the Chula Vista Library, and she also
presented photos of the restrooms.

Mayo�Casillas Sa/as spoke in suppoR of upgrading the Civic Center B�anch Library restrooms.
Council discussion continued regarding the item.
Councilmember Bensoussan spoke in support ol additional public outreach regarding the budget,
renovating the Civic Cen(er Library restrooms, budgeting adequate funding for the Arts Maste� Plan, and
she spoke in support of addressing the inf�asWCfure needs o( the Roh� Manor House and Woman's
Club.

Public Wolks Di2cfor Hopkins stated that the PaAcs and Reaeation Commission recommended
approval of the budget at its meeting of May 79, 2016.

Mayor Casillas Salas spoke 2garding a racent celebration o! Olde� American's Week and Olympian
High School's Senior Common Expenence program. She spoke regarding a recent visit by £ormer
President Bill Clinton and thanked the Police DepaRment /or ifs assistance in managing the event. She
congratu/ated the Chula Visfa Police Explorers 7or winning first place in the Domeslic Violence scenano
and second place over all in the recent Escondido Police Cadet competition.
COUNCILMEMBERS' COMMENTS
Councilmember McCann announced upcoming Memorial Day cefemonies.
Deputy Mayo�Miesen spoke ragarding the recent Otay Valley Regional Park Day event.
Counci/member Bensoussan spoke regarding the recent ribbon cutting for the Take Me Home mural at
the Animal Care Facility.
