PARADE. AND APPROVR�'G UP TO FIVE ONE-YEAR
EXTENSIONS
R'HEREAS. the Citv of Chula Vista is activelv eneased in establishine sienarure
communirv e��ents that attract residents and ��isitors: and y
�1'HEREAS. the 201� StarliQht Parade amacted more than 2�.000 residenu and visitors
to historic Third A��enue: and y
�i'HEREAS, the Stazlight Parade is San Diego Countv's onh niehttime parade ���th
more than 100 pazade entrants. includin� local schools and reeional organizations, holida}�
activities. and more. �vhich attract residents and ��isitors to the Chula Vista Third Avenue
Do�mto��m: and
WHEREAS, the success of the Starlight Pazade depends upon ezpert coordination and
planning H�ith the Third Avenue Village Association, parade contingents and others; and
�i'HEREAS, the 2016 Starlieht Parade involves work to be performed that indudes, but
is not limited to, coordination. plannina with vendors. musical eroups. participants and others,
securing subcontracrors, paying im�oices: and
\�'HEREAS, the Cit}� solicited proposals for an event manaeement consultant to
coordinate the 2016 Starlieht Parade. and the committee selected McFarlane Promotions as the
most qualified; and
WHEREAS. I�4cFarlane Promotions' experience, qualifications and success in planning
large-scale public events makes the firm uniqueh qualified; and
�1'HEREAS. McFarlane Promotions �varrants and represents that it is ezperienced and
staffed in a manner such that it H�ill coordinate and deli��er the sen�ices ���ithin the timeframes
required in accordance wi[h the terms and conditions of the Agreement.
l�'OV�'. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED bv the Citv Council of the Citv of Chula Vista
that it appro��es the S1�_000 Agreement benveen the Cit�� and McFarlane Promotions to
coordinate the 2016 Chula Vista Stazli�ht Parade, in the form presented, ���ith such minor
modifications as mav be required or approved bv the Citv Attomev. a cop}� of �vhich shall be
kept on file ���ith the Office of the Citv Clerk. and authorizes and directs the Cit�� n4anaoer to
e�ecute the same.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that it
authorizes and directs the City Manager to eatend the Agreement for up to five (5) additional one
(1) one-year terms, N�ith any necessary amendments that are mutually agreeable to the parties, by
providing written notice to Consultant no fewer than sixty (60) days before the end of any one-
yeaz term.
