Dear Ms. Thomas:
On the occasion of your retirement, please allow me to express my sincere appreciation
for your services from 1979 to 1984 to the Second Precinct and the citizens of Virginia
Beach.
It takes a special kind of person to be a police ocer, especially in light of today's social
and economic climate. It is true that a police officer most often sees people at their
worst. In many instances, the only recognition received is negative.
For most of us, however, the law enforcement profession is not just a job. We do it
because we care for our fellow man and because we seek justice for everyone.
I speak for thE Poiice Department, our city leaders, and our citizens when I say inank
you for your dedication, caring, and selflessness. I wish you well in your future
endeavors.
Sincerely,
