motto: “Find a need and ll it; nd a hurt and heal it.”
Tino Martinez is an exemplary example of volunteerism and
leadership in our community. A 38-year resident of Chula
Vista, he currently serves as President of the Southwest
Chula Vista Civic Association. To combat local grati issues,
he started the “Adopt-a-Wall” program, which is a
neighborhood grati abatement program comprised of
volunteer residents in partnership with local businesses
and the City. Mr. Martinez has also been a dedicated
advocate for our local homeless neighbors, most recently
producing short videos to bring awareness and
compassion to their lives and struggles. In an eort to
improve the quality of life and protect the uniqueness of
Southwest Chula Vista, Mr. Martinez represented the City's
Southwestern residents throughout the historic districting
process. Tino Martinez is a graduate of Castle Park
Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. He and his family
reside in Southwest Chula Vista.
Christian and his wife Amy are actively involved in the
Challenger Division of Little League. The Challenger
Division is dedicated to providing opportunities for
children with disabilities - also known as dierently-abled
youth - the opportunity to play baseball. The Slike's have
seen the program grow from 12 players to over 60
participants, including 40 players and 20 buddies that help
assist the players. Christian and Amy are currently trying to
raise money to build a Challenger Division eld. This facility
will give the players more practice and game time as well as
give them a sense of having a home eld.
Dr. Hamid Mani is an internationally recognized clinician
and co-founder/CEO of California Retina Associates in
Chula Vista. He brings national best practices to his eye
specialty clinic in west Chula Vista resulting in a thriving
and busy eye center with a sta of over 100. Dr. Mani,
together with his daughter Niki, established a non-prot
called “Stop Diabetic Blindness Clinic,” which assists
impoverished diabetic patients in the Chula Vista and
San Diego communities. Dr. Mani provides no-cost
examinations and medical treatments to diabetic patients
experiencing the risk of vision loss. An estimated $2 million

underserved diabetic patients. Dr. Mani believes no one
should lose their eyesight because of their inability to pay for
