Hyde Mayor, City of Chula Vista 276 Fourth Avenue Chula Vista, CA 92010 Dear Mayor Hyde: The Sweetwater Union High School District is faced with a very serious problem which threatens the safety and welfare of our students. We are currently having a very serious problem with unauthorized persons coming onto our school campuses while school is in session. The California Education Code Section 32211 addresses this problem in a broad sense, but it is very difficult to enforce. The trespassers and intruders refuse to leave the school grounds when asked by a school official. Our adjacent school district and city have been able to reduce this problem through joint cooperation and through the adoption of school district policies and city ordinances dealing specifically with campus intruders and trespassers. I am enclosing a copy of the San Diego City trespassing ordinance section 52.70.01 . I wish to request that the City Council of Chula Vista adopt a similar ordinance to that of San Diego City which will help us assure the safety and welfare of all the students. I will be happy to meet with you and discuss the above request at your conve- nience. Sincerely yours, ulian T.
