ITEM EXPLANATION:

The Penal Code has recently been amended requiring the Attorney General
to furnish summary criminal history information to city and other public
agency officials to assist them in fulfilling employment, certification
or licensing duties .
The "rap sheet" information is available only to those city officials
specifically authorized by the Council .
Therefore, two ordinances have been prepared designating those persons
who are authorize� to receive such information. The ordinances have
been cleared with the State Department of Justice .
