A Regular Meeting of the Resource Conservation Commission of the City of Chula Vista was called to
order at 5:06 pm in the Executive Conference Room 103, Building A, located at 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, California.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Commissioners Coleman, Kappes (left at 5:56 pm), Mora (arrived at 5:13 pm),
Valen, Sedgwick and Chair Romo
ABSENT: Commissioner Rahimzadeh
MOTION TO EXCUSE: none
STAFF PRESENT: Environmental Services Manager France, Admin Services Manager
Beamon, and Sr. Secretary Lindsey
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Valen moved to approve the minutes of the regular
meeting on July 13, 2015, as written. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sedgwick and it
was carried by the following vote:
Yes — 5 Coleman, Kappes, Sedgwick, Valen and Romo
No -0
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Robert Ross, a resident of Chula Vista, asked Mayor Salas what she thinks about the change in
SDG &E rates.
Commissioner Mora arrived during Information Items.
INFORMATION ITEMS
1. Mayor Mary Casillas Salas, accompanied by her Chief of Staff Judy Walsh- Jackson, talked
with the commissioners about the following items relating to the City of Chula Vista:
transportation, new hotels, Otay River Valley, riding bicycles in the city, waste water to
drinking water, trolley station redesign, BRT along Palomar Street, drought measures, food
waste and densification. She sees the commissioners as ambassadors to promote
sustainability to the residents of Chula Vista.

COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS
Commissioner Coleman reported that the WAG (Wildlife Advisory Group) and the BCDC (Bayfront
Cultural Design Committee) have not met since the last commission meeting.
Commissioner Valen talked about the Master Composter Program that will begin on September 1.
Classes are every Tuesday evening for 7 weeks at the Living Coast Discovery Center.
Commissioner Sedgwick commented on all the activities in Chula Vista that are available to residents
pertaining to sustainablility.

Commissioner Sedgwick moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Mora and carried by the following vote:
Yes — 5 Coleman, Mora, Sedgwick, Valen and Romo

Meeting was adjourned at 6:28 pm to a regular meeting to be held on September 14, 2015.
