HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1991-16099 NOT APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 16099 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA APPROVING CLOSURE OF THE LIBRARY AT 365 F STREET FOR EIGHT (8) DAYS FROM APRIL 1, 1991 THROUGH APRIL 8, 1991, IN ORDER TO BAR CODE THE COLLECTION The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the Library's request for a new automated library system was approved in the FY 1989-90 Capital Improvement Program; and, WHEREAS, on August 28, 1990, Council approved the award of contracts for software licensing, purchase of hardware and customer support and service agreements to Hewlett Packard and INLEX; and, WHEREAS, one of the major components of the system implementation is conversion from optical character recognition (OCR) labels as the book and item identification and inventory control method to using bar code labels; and, WHEREAS, based on staff's experiences with similar projects, it is estimated that the Library would need to be closed to the public for eight days in order to relabel the collection; and, WHEREAS, the Library Board, at a special meeting on March 13, 1991, recommended that the Library close completely for one week and one day, April 1-8, 1991, to bar code the entire collection. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA does approve the closure of the Library at 365 F Street for eight (8} days from April 1, 1991 through April 8, 1991, in order to bar code the collection.
