HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1920-33-B 1 RESOLUTION #33-B Original Resolution Missing Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of April 19, 1920 This being the time set to canvass the vote of the Municipal Election held on the 12th day of April 1920, Trustee Noyes made a motion that Resolution declaring result of Election " be introduced and read, motion was seconded by Howe and motion was carried by a full vote in the affinitive, the Resolution is as follows, to-wit: WHEREAS, a general Municipal election was held and conducted in the city of Chula Vista, on Monday, the 12th day of April, 1920 as required by law, AND WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and legally given, that voting precincts were properly established, that election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof, made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the general laws of the State governing elections in cities of the 5th and 6th class. AND WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of said city met at the Council chamber of the Board on Monday the 19th day of April, 1920 to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers as a result of which the Board finds that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, and other matters required by law, to be as hereinafter stated, now therefore BE IT RESOLVED as follows: That said regular municipal election was held and conducted in the city of Chula Vista, on Monday, the 12th of April, 1920, in time, form and manner as required by law. that there was one voting precinct established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the regular election precincts established for holding general state and county elections as follows: Consolidated voting Precinct"A" comprising state and county precinct numbersl,2, 63 of Chula Vista. That the whole number of votes cast in said city was 72. That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they were voted, the number of votes given in each precinct to each of said persons, together with the whole number of votes which they received in the entire city are as follows: L.B. Barnes Trustee full term 69 votes E.G. Noyes Trustee full term 69 votes J.F. Morrill Clerk 71 votes M.A. Patterson Treasurer 70 votes That the proposition voted upon, the number of votes given in each precinct, and in the whole city for and against the same are as follows: For the issueing of Bonds in amount $15,000.00 53 votes Against 16 votes Resolved therefore, that at said general municipal election L.B.Barnes was elected to the office of TRUSTEE of the city of Chula Vista for the full term of four years: ALSO, that E. G. Noyes was elected to the office of TRUSTEE of said city for the full term of four years ALSO, that J.F. Morrill was elected to the office of CLERK of said city for the term of four years: ALSO, that M.A. Patterson was elected to the office of TREASURER of said city for the term of four years: RESOLVED further, that as a result of said election, the following proposition was adopted: Shall the city of Chula Vista incur a bonded debt of $15,000.00 for the purpose of constructing and completing of a City Hall and Fire Department House and Equipment combined, in said city for the public use: For the Bonds 53 votes Against the Bonds 16 votes The Clerk shall enter on the records of the Board a statement of the result of the election: showing (1) the whole number of votes cast in said city: (2) the names of the persons voted for, and propositions voted upon: (3) The office which each person was voted for: (4) the number of votes given at each precinct to each of said persons, and for and against each propositions: and (5) the numbek of votes given in said city to each of such persons, and for and against each of such propositions voted on: The clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such persons elected a certificate of election, signed by him and duly authenticated: he shall also impose the constitutional oath of office and have them subscribe thereto, whereupon they shall be inducted into the respective offices to which they have been elected. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly and legally introduced and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the city of Chula Vista at a regular meeting, held April 19, 1920 by the following vote to-wit: Ayes: Trustees Howe, Barnes, Bent, Noyes and McKnight.
