HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1918-18-B RESOLUTION #18-B Original Resolution Missing Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of April 9, 1918 The following Resolution, duly seconded was approved and adopted. "Whereas a general municipal election was held in the city of Chula Vista, California on Monday, the 8th day of April, 1918, for the purpose of electing three members of the Board of Trustees, a clerk and Treasurer, and Whereas, it appears that said election was held and conducted in accordance with the general laws of the State as far as applicable, that the Board of Trustees gave due notice thereof: and that said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat were received and canvassed, and returns thereon made in time, form and manner as required by law. and Whereas, the Board of Trustees did meet on this 9th day of April, 1918 for the purpose of canvassing the vote cast thereat, it was found the votes cast at said election was as follows: For Trustees Judson Bent 378 Votes Frank Howe 312 Votes Thos, J.H. McKnight 385 Votes Reverdy J. Wharton 105 Votes For City Clerk J.F. Morrill 362 Votes Scattering 2 Votes For Treasurer M.A. Patterson 354 Votes And Whereas it appears from a canvass of the votes cast at said general municipal election, that the following named persons received a majority of all the votes cast for the respective offices mentioned; therefore it is resolved and declared by the Board of Trustees of the City of Chula Vista, California that at a general municipal election held in said city on Monday, April 8th, 1918, the persons elected to the respective offices for the term stated and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, are as follows: Judson Bent as Trustee for the term of four years. Frank Howe as Trustee for the term of four years. Thos. J. H. McKnight as Trustee for the term of four years. J.F. Morrill as Clerk and ex-officio assessor for the term two years M.A. Patterson as treasurer for the term of two years. The Clerk and Treasurer before entering upon the duties of their respective offices, shall execute a bond to the City of Chula Vista in sum as required by ordinance, which bond shall be approved by the Board of Trustees and filed with the Clerk, after which the bond of the Clerk shall be filed with the president of the Board, all newly elected officers before entering upon the duties of their office to which they have been elected, shall take and subscribe to the constitutional oath of office, and file the same with the clerk" The motion was carried and the resolution approved and adopted by the following vote, To-wit: Ayes, Eitzen,Noyes, and Barnes Noes, none Absent, Monroe and Geyer
