Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of
November 30, 1910 4
The following Resolution was introduced and read:
"Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the City of Chula
Vista deem it adviseable for the best interests of the City
to take the necessary lawful measures for obtaining the
following described property for civic purposes including
a library site, to-wit: The Easterly one and nine-tenths
acres of Lot 19, Quarter Section 137, Rancho de la Nacion,
in the City of Chula Vista, California; and
Whereas the Trustees consider the said location the
most favorable for such purpose; and
Whereas, said property belongs to the Chula Vista
School District, of which said District the City of
Chula Vista forms a large portion; and that if such
lands are obtained therefor, any purchase price paid by
said City is largely saved to said City by reason of such
expenditure going to said School District so composed;
Therefore, be it Resolved that the City of Chula Vista
hereby offers to said School District the sum of Eight
Hundred Dollars for the above described land to be used
for civic purposes including a library site for said City,
upon condition that a good, sufficient and clear title
thereto in the City of Chula Vista, guaranteed by the
Union Title Company of San Diego be furnished by
said School District to the City of Chula Vista for
such purpose. "
