Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of
April 13, 1916

On motion duly seconded the following Resolution
was approved and adopted:
"Whereas a general municipal election was held in the
City of Chula Vista, California on Monday, the 10th day
of April, 1916, for the purpose of electing a clerk and
ex-officio assessor; a treasurer, and two members of the
Board of Trustees ; and
Whereas, it appears that said election was held and
conducted in accordance with the general elections laws of
the state, so far as the same were applicable, and that
the Board of Trustees gave due notice thereof; and that said
election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat
were received and canvassed, and returns theron made in
time, for and manner as required by law.
And Whereas, the Board of Trustees did meet on this
13th day of April, 1916, for the purpose of canvassing
the vote cast thereat, whereupon it was found that the
vote cast at said election was as follows:
For Trustees :
L.B. Barnes, 353 votes.
WM R. Edwards, 67 votes.
Adam Morgan, 72 votes.
Elmer G. Noyes, 361 votes .
R.J. Wharton, 138 votes.
For City Clerk:
J.F. Morrill, 225 votes .
B. A. Shadinger, 291 votes.
For City Treasurer.
T.B. Frost, 198 votes.
Maud E. Post, 326 votes.
And whereas it appears from a canvass of the votes cast
at said general municipal election, that the persons next
herein named received a majority of all the votes cast
thereat for the respective offices mentioned; now, therefore,
It is hereby Resolved, determined and declared by the
Board of Trustees of the City of Chula Vista, California,
that at the general municipal election held in said city
on Monday, the 10th day of April, 1916, the persons elected
to the respective offices for the terms stated and until
their successors are duly elected and qualified, are as
follows:
L.B. Barnes, as trustee for the term of four years .
Elmer G. Noyes, as trustee for the term of four years.
B.A. Shadinger, clerk and ex-officio assessor for the
term of two years.
Maude E. Post, Treasurer, for the term of two years.
The clerk and the treasurer, respectively, before
entering upon the duties of their respective offices, shall
execute a bond to the City of Chula Vista in such sum as
required by ordinance, which bond shall be approved by the
Board of Trustees and filed with the clerk, the bond of
the clerk shall be filed with the President of the Board.
All newly elected officers before entering on the duties
of their office to which they have been elected, shall take
and subscribe to the constitutional oath of office, and
file the same with the clerk. "
The motion was carried and the resolution approved
and adopted by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes: Barnes,
Eitzen, Monroe, Wharton, Geyer. Noes: None. Absent: None
