Original Resolution Missing
Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of
March 19, 1914
The following Resolution was introduced and read:
"Whereas, in the judgment of this Board it is necessary
to grade and place to official grade, including the necessary
culverts, the following streets and avenue and part of
streets and avenues in said city, to-wit:
"F" Street from Fifth Avenue to First Avenue;
"G" Street from Fourth Avenue to Third Avenue;
First Avenue, from "F" Street to "G" Street;
Second Avenue, from "C" Street to First Street;
Fourth Avenue, from "E" Street to "H" Street;
And that "D" Street from Third Avenue to First Avenue
be placed to temporary grade,
All in accordance with the plans and specifications
and profiles for said work, which will be on file in the
office of the city engineer on and after March 24, 1914;
and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and required to
cause to be published for at least ten days in the Chula
Vista Review, a newspaper published and circulated in
said city, a notice to contractors, of the receiving of
proposals by said city of Chula Vista for the grading of
said streets as provided by Ordinance No.28 of said City;
such bids to be filed with the City Clerk on or before the
7th day of April, 1914, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. at which time
said bids will be opened and considered by this Board;
said notice to contractors shall also state that this
Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids; that
bids will be received for all of said streets, or for each
street separately, as the bidder may elect; that proposals
will also be received at said time and place for the necessary
corrugated iron culverts, pipes and drains, as per sizes
and dimensions as shown and designated on certain plans
and detail drawings and specifications on file in the office
of said city engineer; and proposals also for cement pipe
as per certain plans and detail drawings and specifications
on file in the office of said city engineer; that all
proposals must be accompanied by a certified check made
payable to the Treasurer of the City of Chula Vista, for
an amount equal to-five per cent of the sum total of the
amount bid, based on the said city engineer's approximate
estimate of the work to be performed, or material furnished,
as a guarantee, and that all proposals shall be upon blanks furnished
as a guarantee; and that all proposals shall be upon blanks
furnished by the said city engineer, sealed in a plain envelope,
and endorsed as to the form of proposal.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Trustees
of the City of Chula Vista, that the foregoing Resolution
be in all things approved and adopted.
Said Resolution was adopted by the following vote, to-wit:
Ayes: Austin, Barnes, Boltz, Rogers, Smith.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
