Original Resolution Missing
Excerpt from minutes of Board of Trustees Meeting of
May 7, 1912
Upon motion, duly seconded, the following resolution
was adopted, all voting aye, viz:
Whereas, the question as to the location of the State
Highway through San Diego County and on to the Imperial
Valley is now before the State Highway Commission; and
Whereas, it is the desire of the citizens of Chula
Vista, San Diego County, to have said highway constructed
through said city, via National Avenue and Second Street,
to continue over the route known as "Telegraph Canyon Route" ;
and
Whereas,the State Highway Commission requires , as this
Board of Trustees understands, the authorities of incorporated
cities to meet the State Highway at its boundaries and
construct and maintain a road through said city equal to the
road to be constructed by said State Highway Commission to
and beyond the limits of said city;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Trustees
of the City of Chula Vista, San Diego County, California,
that it is the sense of this Board that the said City should,
and we as members of said Board agree, in the event of said
State Highway being located as above indicated, that we will
cause to be enacted an ordinance providing for the construction
and maintainance of such road through said City connecting
with the road to be constructed by said Commission; and
Be it further resolved that we earnestly request the
said State Highway Commission to make a thorough investigation
of the merits of the route suggested in these resolutions
before making a final decision in the matter.
