RESOLUTION NO.743
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, STATING THE
RESULT OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS
OF THE SPECIAL BOND RT,F,CTION HELD APRIL 9,
1946.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, California,
by Ordinance, duly called and provided for the holding of a special
election in said City on April 9,• 1946, for the purpose of submitting to
the qualified voters of said City the bond propositions set forth in
said Ordinance and hereinafter stated; and •
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given
in time, form, and manner as provided by law, and said election was on the
said date duly held at the polling places designated in said Ordinance
and the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the returns thereof made at
the time and in the manner and form provided by law; and
WHEREAS, on thid 16th day of April, 1946, at the hour of
7 o'clock P.M., said City Council has duly assembled at its usual place
of meeting and has canvassed the returns .of said election;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista,
California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:
Section 1. That the special election for the purpose of
submitting to the voters of the City of Chula Vista, the bond propositions
hereinafter set forth was duly held on April 9, 1946, and the votes cast
thereat were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made
at the time and in the form and manner required by law.
Section 2. That the bond propositions voted upon at said
election are as follows, to-wit:

BOND PROPOSITION NO.1
Shall the City of Chula Vista incur a bonded indebtedness in the
principal sum, of $370,000.00 for the purpose of the acquisition and
construction by said city of a certain municipal improvement, to-wit;
Additions to and extensions of the city sewer system, such additions
and extensions to consist of additions to the sewage disposal plant
and additions to and extensions of the trunk line sewer system, including
the acquisition of all materials, pipe , equipment, apparatus, easements
and rights of way necessary or convenient therefor?
BOND PROPOSITION NO.2
Shall the City of Chula Vista incur a bonded indebtedness in the
principal sum of $225,000.00 for the purpose of raising money for the
acquisition and construction by said City of a certain municipal im-
provements, to-wit: A building for municipal uses, including equipment
and furniture necessary therefor, said building to provide quarters for
all city offices and departments, including-the city jail, fire depart-
ment and city library?
Section 3. That all absent voter ballots issued had been received
or returned and accounted for by April 10, 1946, and on the date were
duly counted and canvassed, and the result of such count is hereinafter
stated.
That this City Council has duly canvassed the returns of said
election and from said returns it appears, and this City Council finds,
that the total number of votes cast in each of the respective election
precincts established for said election upon each of said propositions,
and the number of votes therein for and against each of said propositions,
and the total number of votes cast in said city upon each proposition
and for and against each proposition in said City are as follows:

That the votes of less than two-thirds of all of the voters
voting upon Bond Propositions numbered 1 and, 2, were cast in favor of
the adoption thereof, and said Bond Propositions numbered 1 and 2,
has been declared to have failed to carry at said election.

DO HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the
Council of said City by a vote of more•than two-thirds of the members
thereof and was approved by the Mayor'of said City at an adjourned regular
meeting of said Council held on the 16th day of April, 1946, and that it
was so adopted by the following vote. to-wit:
