RESOLUTION SUBMITTING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE CITY MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT TO
THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA,
CALIFORNIA.
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista, Cali-
fornia, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE as follows: -
Section 1. That the following ordinance providing
for the establishment of the City Manager form of government
for_the City of Chula Vista, California, be submitted to the
electors of said City at its next general municipal election
to be held on April 9, 1946.

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE CITY MANAGER
FORM OF GOVERNMENT AND PROVIDING FOR THE
OFFICE OF CITY MANAGER, HIS POWERS, DUTIES
AND COMPENSATION.
The people of the City of Chula Vista, DO
ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby established the
City- Manager form of government.
Section 2. The office of City Manager of
the City of Chula Vista is hereby created and
established.
Section 3. The City Manager shall be ap-
pointed by a majority vote of the City Council
of the City of Chula Vista and shall hold office
at the pleasure of said Council.
Section 4. As compensation for his service
the City Manager shall receive such sum of money
per month as said City Council may hereafter fix
and determine by resolution.

'Section 5. The City Manager shall be the
chief executive and administrative officer of the
City of Chula Vista and shall have all of the
powers and dutieb heretofore vested in the several
ministerial, executive and administrative officers
of the City of Chula Vista except such ministerial,
executive and administrative duties and powers as
may now be vested in the City Clerk, the City
Attorney and the City Treasurer.
Section 6. He shall maintain an office in the
City of Chula Vista, to be provided for by the
Council, and shall keep the same open during all
business hours, and shall receive, open and consider
all correspondence And communications sent or direct-
ed to the City` Council. He shall place before the
Council all such correspondence and communications
at the next regular meeting thereof after receiving
the same, and shall report to the Council the result
of such investigations as he shall have made con-
cerning such correspondence, or recommendations,
and recommend to the Council the disposition of the
same.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall become
effective on the tentlx day after the City Council
shall have canvassed and declared the result of
an election at which the qualified electors of said
City shall have approved the adoption of this
ordinance.
Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to cause the
substance of said proposed ordinance to be printed on the ballots
used in such election as follows:

Section 3. The city Clerk is directed to publish
this resolution twice in the Chula Vista Star and to cause copies
of the proposed ordinance to be printed and mailed in the envel-
ope containing the sample ballot to each voter at least ten ( 10)
days prior to the election.

Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to do such
further acts as may be necessary to cause said proposed ordi-
nance to be submitted to vote of the electors at said election.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 28th day of
January, 1946.

resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of said city
by a vote of more-than two-thirds of the members thereof and
was approved by the Mayor of said city at an adjourned regular
meeting of said City Council held on the 28th day of January,
1946, and that it was so adopted by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Rieslend, Keithley, Chase, Burnside, Kidder.
NOES: Councilmen None
