RESOLUTION°4TO.-6964
WHEREAS, there was proposed in the_ past a project for
dredging known as the South Bay Dredging ,Project, contained
in Senate document 81 of the 71st Congress , 2nd Session,
transmitted by the War Department, Office of Chief Engineer,
January 31, 1930 ; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that `the certain conditions
precedent be made 'by Chula Vista and National City before
said project may be commenced ; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista has made available a
special fund in the sum of $10,000.00 as required by said k, •
federal report, and the City of Chula Vista has available ✓
disposal areas for the spoil as will more clearly be shown
on an application, and 'is agreeable to entering into .an
agreement to hold the United States Government free and4;
harmless of claims for damages resulting from said dis-
posal, and is willing to enter into a suitable agreement
to reimburse the United States for costs involved in excess
of the cost of disposal by the most economical method, and
WHEREAS; it is desirable and to the, best interests of the
City that the City of Chula Vista join with the City of Na-`"
tional City in presenting to the ,United States Government
through the proper officials , ail -application for the commence-
went of said -project with certain amendments.
Now, THE., FORE, be it resolved by the City Ceuncil,
that the Mayor of Chula Vista be authorized to, and he is

hereby have prepared an application in conjunction` with

the City of National City, to the United State Government• .
through the proper officials, for the extviksion ofs the

, present channel in a southeasterly direction down to and
past Chula Vista, said channel to be under that certain
project known as the South Bay 'Dredging Project as indicat-
ed in Senate Document 81, in the 71st Congress 2nd Session,
attached to the letter of transmittal by the 'Jar Department,
dated January 31, 1930, with the amendment that said channel
be 1000 feet wide, 30 feet deep, and approximately 12000
feet long; and the said Mayor be, and he is hereby author-
ized in said application to agree to hold the United States
Government free from claims for damages resulting from the
disposal of spoil, and to show by proper maps attached to said
application, the disposal areas which the city shall provide;
and such application to provide that the City of Chula Vista
r will enter into a suitable agreement to reimburse the United
States Government for costs involved in excess of the costs
of disposal by the most economical method and to further show
in said application that the City of Chula Vista has made
available the sum of 110,000.00 10,000.00 to contribute to said project
and that said Mayor is authorized to have prepared any maps
and documents necessary for this application and to do all
things necessary in the way of presenting said application.
