HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1941-619 RESOLUTION NO. 619 APPROVING PETITION OF SANTA FE RAILWAY COMPANY FOR EXTENSION OF RAILWAY SERVICE INTO CH[JLA VISTA V1I REAS, it is highly advantageous to the City of Chula Vista and to the businesses and residents thereof to have located therein and in the vicinity manufacturing plants and other industries; and WHEREAS, ample and expeditious transportation by railroad is necessary for full development of the city and community along the lines above mentioned; and WHEREAS, it is always to the hest advantage and interest of a city or community and its business to be served by more than one railroad and thus have the benefit of competition in transportation service to promote expedition in movement of cars; and B EREA8, the city and its residents and business are at present served by only one railroad; and aiH -„ , The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company has made application to the Interstate Commerce Commission for permission to extend its railroad service to and into the City of Chula Vista; NOW, TF.,Li-U FORE, BE IT RESODIED, by the Council of the City of Chula Vista in meeting duly assembled that as the granting of said petition will be of great and lasting benefit to the City, its residents and businesses, the City Council earnestly requests that it be granted. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 8th day of December, 1941, by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: OMEN, Perkins, Burnside, Howe. Timmons NOES: CIMEN.
