HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1990-15672 NOT APPROVED RESOLUTION NO. 15672 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ESTABLISHING A 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON CANYON DRIVE AND COUNTRY VISTAS LANE The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, staff has received requests from area residents to reduce vehicular speed on Canyon Drive and Country Vistas Lane, and WHEREAS, an engineering traffic survey completed by staff would be used to justify enforcement of a posted 30 mph speed limit and said study takes into account: radar speed surveys done during off-peak hours, roadway characteristics such as the width of street (40 feet), horizontal and vertical curves, and traffic characteristics such as the volume and accident rate, and WHEREAS, staff also conducted a "Ball-Bank Indicator" study for the four curves in the area and based on the readings recorded, staff recommends curve warning signs with an advisory 25 mph plate, and WHEREAS, at its meeting of May 10, 1990, the Safety Commission voted 6-0 to accept staff's recommendations and 5-1 to modify item 4 to a double centerline stripe. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby establish a 30 mph speed limit on Canyon Drive and Country Vistas Lane.
