Approximately 30 days ago, the City was requested by Supervisor Hamilton's office to identify activities and services that the City could provide that would assist in promoting tourist activities in the County. Additionally, they indicated the programs identified could also be cultural in nature. The County was furnished the activities identified in Section 3a. , i .e. , Southern California Sister Cities Conference, 1984 Founders Day Cele- bration, proposed cable television program, National Library Week, expanded concerts in the park, Business Salute to Chula Vista, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, and the publication and distribution of City maps and City postcards. On October 30, 1984, the County Board of Supervisors approved the allocation of $5,000 for the purposes indicated above. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution approving contract, and authorize Mayor to execute same in behalf of the City. 30ARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: N.A. )ISCUSSION -unds allocated to the City of Chula Vista are generated through the County' s Transient )ccupancy Tax program within the unincorporated area. Some of the identified City programs or which the funds will be used were not funded at all in the City's 1984-85 budget, chile others (like the cable television program, concerts in the park, Christmas Tree .fighting Ceremony, distribution of City maps and City postcards) were funded but the dditional monies will allow for those programs to be expanded. Specific allocations of lollar amounts for various programs has not been required so the City has considerable lexibility in expending the $5,000 in those areas that best meet the intent of the program nd the needs of the City. INANCIAL IMPACT pon submission of appropriate invoices and verification of services provided, the County f San Diego will reimburse us to a maximum amount of $5,000 for services performed during he 1984-85 fiscal year. u - RA:mab 0 J )rm A-113 (Rev. 11/79) City Council meeting - 16 - October 30, 1984 d.
