ITEM TITLE: Resolution //51.30 - Authorizing Funding for a Representative of the Task
Force on Environmental Concerns and a Representative of the Fire Department to

SUBMITTED BY: City Attorney (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X )
r /
This resolution would authorize one member of the Task Force on
Environmental Concerns and one representative of the Fire
Department to attend the League Conference on Hazardous Waste.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A
DISCUSSION:
At its October 15, 1984 meeting the City Council (Cox) requested
that staff prepare a resolution authorizing funding for one member
of the Task Force on Environmental Concerns to attend the League
Conference on Hazardous Waste. Council indicated that funding was
available in the Council Contingency Fund for this Conference. It
was also suggested that the same offer be made to a representative
of the Resource Conservation Commission.
Both the Task Force on Environmental Concerns and the Resource
Conservation Commission have been contacted with regard to this
matter and one representative of the Task Force on Environmental
Concerns has expressed interest in attending the seminar. In
addition, it is proposed that a representative of the Fire Depart-
ment attend the seminar inasmuch as the Fire Department has the
primary responsibility for dealing with hazardous waste problems
in the City. It is estimated that the cost will not exceed $450.
Therefore, we recommend that you authorize the expenditure of $450
from the previously appropriated Contingency Fund for this
purpose.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding available in Account 100-0730-5399.
