ITEM TITLE: Resolution /777 Appropriating the sum of $1 ,180 - additional
cost for ayment of placing propositions on the
November 6 , 1984 ballot

Five (5) propositions have been placed on the November 6
General Election. In accordance with the new County
policy, payment for the election costs must be made
prior to the election date .
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the request for the $1 ,180 .
DISCUSSION:
The total cost of placing the five propositions on the
ballot is now estimated at $11,180 . This is based on
$0 .26 x the number of registered voters in the City -
42 ,830 .
A billing has been received from the Registrar of Voters
requesting payment of the full amount by October 5 .
By January 4 , 1985, the costs will be finalized and
any overpayment will be returned to the City - or
we will be billed for the difference .
FISCAL IMPACT: The sum of $10 ,000 was budgeted in
Account 0170-5202 .

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the indebtedness and obligation
to be incurred by the contract or agreement authorized by the
attached resolution can be incurred without the violation of any
of the provisions of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, or
the Constitution or the laws of the State of California, that
sufficient monies have been appropriated for the purpose of said
contract, that sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the
contract are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from which
the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now actually in
the Treasury, together with the monies anticipated to come into
the Treasury, to the credit of said appropriation are otherwise
unencumbered.

SUBJECT: ADVANCE PAYMENT FOR NOVEMBER 6, 1984 ELECTION SERVICE
Dear Ms. Fulasz:
Effective January 1, 1983, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors directed
the Registrar of Voters to collect a deposit for estimated costs of elections
conducted by the Registrar of Voters for local agencies.
It is estimated that the cost of consolidating the City of Chula Vista to the
November 6, 1984 Presidential General Election will be $0.26 cents per reg-
istered voter, or $11,180 based upon 42,830 registered voters.
In conformance with the Board' s directive, one-half of the estimated cost is
now due, therefore, please remit $5,590 payable to:

The balance of $5,590 is due October 5, 1984.
Once the billing is finalized (by January 4), any portion of the advance depo-
sit which exceeds actual cost will be promptly returned. Excess actual costs
over the amount deposited will be billed.
