Bids were received and opened at 11 :00 a.m. on June 8, 1984, in the office of
the Purchasing Agent for furnishing screenings (stone chips) to the City for
the period July 1 through December 31 , 1984.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council accept the bids and award the contract to
Asphalt Inc.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
Six vendors were mailed bid documents, with two responding as follows:

Asphalt Inc. , El Cajon $12.83
Sim J. Harris Co. , San Diego 13.45
The screenings are to be used for the Street Chip Sealing Program. An
estimated 5,000 tons will be ordered delivered to the City yard. The 1983-84
price per ton was $10.93. The increase for 1984-85 is 17%.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds available in Gas Tax account.

to be incurred by the contract or agreement authorized by the
attached resolution can be incurred without the violation of any
of the provisions of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, or
the Constitution or the laws of the State of California, that
sufficient monies have been appropriated for the purpose of said
contract, that sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the
contract are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from which
the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now actually in
the Treasury, together with the monies anticipated to come into
the Treasury, to the credit of said appropriation are otherwise
unencumbered.
