B. Penick & Sons, Inc. was awarded the contract for the construction of public improvements on the 1911 Block Act Phase XVI by Resolution No. 11538, dated February 7, 1984. The contract date is March 4, 1984. This work is now complete. RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution accepting the contract work for the 1911 Block Act Phase XVI street improvements. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: T. B. Penick & Sons, Inc. completed on May 30, 1984, the construction of street improvements for the 1911 Block Act Phase XVI. A final inspection was made on June 8, 1984, and all work was found to be completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. The City's proportionate share of the actual construction cost is $15,210.82. In addition, the City has paid the Sweetwater Authority Water Company $1 ,322.50 for the relocation of a fire hydrant and water service meter for 1395 First Avenue. The total expenditures, for construction, by the City is $16,533.32. The property owners' cost for the construction of street improvements is $29,178.03. This amount will be reimbursed to the City through an assessment spread against the benefitting properties. When this assessment has been determined, the Engineering Department will request the City Council to establish a date of public hearing for the assessment.
