The agreement under which Is service is provided expires June 30, 1984. COMMENDATION: That Council extend the agreement through June 30, 1985. IARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A SCUSSION: The Employee Assistance Program has been in existence for almost four .ars and it appears that it is surpassing its objectives. The original objectives ire to reach 1% of the total workforce; however, recent reports show that approxi- tely 14% of our employees have used the program. Rogers has recently completed several orientation programs for various City .partments. Employees continue to use his services when they have problems that 'fect their work and management continues to call for assistance when there are .oubled employees that supervisors have not been able to deal with using usual ipervisory approaches. It is felt that the existence of the program is both a Isitive employee benefit and a cost savings program in that it helps bring employees ck to productivity levels achieved before the onset of problems . When an employee es not improve and must be terminated, the City knows that it has done as much it can to assist the employee before taking final action to end his/her employ- nt. SCAL IMPACT: $5,400 has been allocated in the 1984-85 budget for the Employee sistance Program. This amount is the same as fiscal year 1983-84. y < of Dated LG - In A-113 (Rev. 11/79)
