ITEM TITLE: Resolution /&;-6 d' Approving grant of easement to SDG&E on
Lot V of Hidden Vista Village
SUBMITTED BY: City Engineer (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X )
REVIEWED BY: City Manager .P4 -
In order to provide for future development east of Hidden Vista Village, SDG&E
desires to install an empty duct system along East "H" Street to the easterly
Hidden Vista Village subdivision boundary. It has been found necessary by
SDG&E to place a 9-1/2 foot-wide handhole which will encroach into the City's
Open Space Lot "V" . SDG&E has requested that the City grant an easement for
this facility.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Council approve the grant of easement to SDG&E and
authorize the Mayor to sign on behalf of the City.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
San Diego Gas & Electric Co. , anticipating future development to the east of
Hidden Vista Village and the impending installation of the surface
improvements on East "H" Street within the subdivision, is planning to install
an empty duct system. The system will extend from the existing underground
facilities on East "H" Street along the southerly side of East "H" Street to
the easterly subdivision boundary. The necessary electric facilities will be
installed later as they become necessary to serve new developments to the east.
In order to install wires within the ducts, handholes must be provided every
600 feet along the system for wire-pulling purposes. The need for one of
these proposed handholes happened to fall along the frontage of the City's
Open Space Lot "V" . The size of this facility results in an encroachment of
4-1/2 feet into the lot.
Although Lot "V" was dedicated on the subdivision map to the City for open
space, public utilities and other public uses, SDG&E desires that an easement
be granted for the utility's specific use.
As all of these utilities will be underground, there will be no visible harm
done to the environment as a result of granting the subject easement.
A transparency is available for Council viewing.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
