The iginal terms of this agreement indicated that it would terminate on nuary 1, 1984 . On December 9 , 1983 Harriet F . Acton, Chairman of the wer Sweetwater Board sent a letter to National City in which she requested one-year extension of this contract. On December 20 , 1983 the National City uncil passed a resolution extending the contract for one year . Therefore, is staff 's recommendation that we act to extend this agreement. :COMMENDATION: That Council adopt the resolution ►ARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable :SCUSSION: Lder the original contract the Lower Sweetwater Fire District was _vided between National City and Chula Vista with National City taking sponsibility for the major portion of the District. Two of the )wer Sweetwater Firefighters were assigned to National City and one was ;signed to Chula Vista. firing the past 22 months the salary and fringe benefits of the _refighter assigned to Chula Vista have been paid by the Lower Sweetwater _strict. If this contract is extended, Lower Sweetwater will continue pay these benefits . The Chula Vista Fire Department has not responded any significant calls in the Lower Sweetwater area since the inception this contract. this time there does not appear to be any action taking place to Lssolve the District and annex the area to the two cities .
