ITEM TITLE: Resolution /OW Accepting public improvements, widening
of Otay Lakes Road for bicycle route improvements

ABC Construction Co. was awarded the contract for widening Otay Lakes Road for
bicycle route improvements by City Council Resolution No. 11378 on
September 8, 1983. The contract is dated September 22, 1983. The work is now
completed.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution accepting public improvements.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
ABC Construction Co. completed the widening of Otay Lakes Road for bicycle
path improvements on December 1, 1983. The final inspection was made on
December 16, 1983, and all work has been found to be performed in accordance
to the contract plans and specifications and to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Authorized expenditure - Fund 602-6020-LT02 $10,500.00
Original contract amount 8,648.60
Inspection and contingencies 1 ,851 .40
Total $10,500.00
Final construction costs $ 8,489.20
The date of inception for the "bicycle facilities improvements" project was
January 9, 1976. As of December 8, 1983, the total cost of staff time for the
bicycle route projects is $5,107.36. The inspection staff time beginning
November 22, 1983 and ending to December 8, 1983 is $577.75. With full cost
recovery of 1.76, the total cost is $981 .64 for this project.
FISCAL IMPACT: The City of Chula Vista will assume maintenance.
