HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1990-15557 RESOLUTION NO. 15557 HONORING THOMAS J. HARRON AT THE CONCLUSION OF HIS SIX YEARS OF SERVICE AS CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA WHEREAS, Thomas J. Harron is a graduate of the University of San Diego Law School Class of 1975 and performed duties as a law clerk and research attorney for the Chula Vista City Attorney's Office from August 1974 to November 1976; and WHEREAS, upon passing the California State Bar in December of 1975, he was employed in private practice, including work in the areas of personal injury, worker's compensation, probate and redevelopment law and after serving brief stint as Deputy City Attorney and Police Liaison Officer for the City of Oceanside in early 1977, he joined the City of Chula Vista City Attorney's Office as Assistant City Attorney; and WHEREAS, on October 11, 1983, he was appointed City Attorney for the City of Chula Vista and has devoted over six of his fifteen years of municipal service to the City of Chula Vista as its City Attorney; and WHEREAS, he has provided many services to the legal community generally, and particularly to local municipal lawyers by participating in the San Diego County City Attorneys Association, including being its President during 1985-86; and WHEREAS, Tom is a former Chairman of the League of California Cities Legal Advocacy Committee and teaches subdivision law with Ban Curtin, the dean of California planning and land use law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby express its appreciation for the many years of devoted and dedicated work of Attorney Thomas O. Harron which has so greatly benefited all of the citizens of this community. The City Council believes that Thomas J. Harron exhibits the highest standards of the legal profession, uses integrity in all dealings, and upholds both personal and professional ethics when offering his advice regarding municipal matters.
