The work to be done consists of the placement of pavement overlay and installation of storm drain facilities. RECOMMENDATION: That Council authorize the expenditure of $34,200 for Pavement Overlay, Claire Avenue from "I" Street to Mankato and approve resolution accepting bids and awarding contract to A-C Co. , Inc. - San Diego in the amount of $32,032.36. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Bids were received from five contractors as follows: Contractor Bid Amount 1. A-C Co. , Inc. - San Diego $32,032.36 2. Scibilia & Sons General Engineering Contractor, Inc. - 34,010.00 Escondido 3. ABC Construction Co. , Inc. - San Diego 34,351 .00 4. R. E. Hazard Contracting Co. - San Diego 38,860.00 5. Daley Corporation - San Diego 49,037.00 The low bid by A-C Co. , Inc. was below the engineer' s estimate of $33,138 by $1,105.64 or 3.3%. We have reviewed the bids and recommend awarding the contract to A-C Co. , Inc. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Adequate funds have been budgeted for the work to be performed. The following is the summary of the funding for this project: Budgeted Gas Tax Funds Available for this Project $ 34,200.00 Funds Required for Construction: a. Contract Amount 32,032.36 b. Contingencies (approx. 6.8%) 2,167.64 c. Total Fund Required to Construct Project 34,200.00 FISCAL IMPACT: None.
