Amending §6. 02 .010 of the Municipal Code relating to Special Permits for the Keeping of certain Animals SECOND READING AND ADOPTION 7 SUBMITTED BY: City Attorne (4/5ths Vote: Yes Nox )7. This amendment would provide for a special permit to allow people to keep animals which are otherwise prohibited by the Municipal Code . RECOMMENDATION: Place Ordinance on First Reading BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION : N/A DISCUSSION : The Municipal Code lists those animals which are allowed to be kept by citizens in the City of Chula Vista. Any animals which are not included are prohibited. There are certain instances where animals that are prohibited could safely be allowed within the City. nor example , the Price Bazaar proposes to set up a Christmas display which would allow live reindeer. The display would in- volve a number of provisions to protect the public from any health or safety danger. Presently, the Municipal Code would not allow this, but the amendment would allow the Director of Public Safety to permit activities such as this as long as he finds that public safety and welfare concerns have been addressed satisfactorily.
