Upon receipt of notice of their intent to terminate the agreement, steps were taken to select a replacement. On October 24, 1983, a selection committee picked Mr. and Mrs. James N. Marshall to be the new Security Residents. An agreement between the City and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall is attached for Council consideration. RECOMMENDATION: Council approve the resolution and authorize the Mayor to execute the agreement between the City and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall for services as Security Residents in Greg Rogers Park. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation Commission has been kept apprised of the efforts to replace the Gibsons and a member of the Commission served on the Selection Committee. DISCUSSION: An announcement was placed in local newspapers and invitational letters sent to 21 people on the County's waiting list for Security Resident positions in the County. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall were among nine applicants who applied for the Greg Rogers Park Security Resident job. The Marshalls were selected by a committee comprised of the Parks Superintendent, the Park Ranger, and a representative from the Police Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Chula Vista Boys and Girls Clubs. All applications were screened by the committee and qualified applicants were given personal interviews. The Marshalls are purchasing the 12' x 54' Fleetwood mobile home owned by the incumbent Security Residents and will move in around November 5, 1983. There will be a continuity of Security Resident presence and the Park Ranger will maintain a close liaison with the Marshalls during the early months of their residency. FISCAL IMPACT: City provides utilities at a cost of approximately $1,000 per year. Funds for this expenditure have been included in the annual budget. PBK:f p C! *0 - `- _-- WPC 0189R
