Meeting Date 11/1/83
ITEM TITLE: Resolution // ...3 a Approving agreement to provide mobile
home space in Greg Rogers for security purposes
SUBMITTED BY: Director of Parks and Recreation (4/5ths Vote: Yes No x )
REVIEWED BY: City Manager
For the past three years, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gibson have been Security
Residents in Greg Rogers Park. Upon receipt of notice of their intent to
terminate the agreement, steps were taken to select a replacement. On
October 24, 1983, a selection committee picked Mr. and Mrs. James N. Marshall
to be the new Security Residents. An agreement between the City and Mr. and
Mrs. Marshall is attached for Council consideration.
RECOMMENDATION: Council approve the resolution and authorize the Mayor to
execute the agreement between the City and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall for services
as Security Residents in Greg Rogers Park.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: The Parks and Recreation Commission has
been kept apprised of the efforts to replace the Gibsons and a member of the
Commission served on the Selection Committee.
DISCUSSION:
An announcement was placed in local newspapers and invitational letters sent
to 21 people on the County's waiting list for Security Resident positions in
the County. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall were among nine applicants who applied for
the Greg Rogers Park Security Resident job.
The Marshalls were selected by a committee comprised of the Parks
Superintendent, the Park Ranger, and a representative from the Police
Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Chula Vista Boys and
Girls Clubs. All applications were screened by the committee and qualified
applicants were given personal interviews.
The Marshalls are purchasing the 12' x 54' Fleetwood mobile home owned by the
incumbent Security Residents and will move in around November 5, 1983. There
will be a continuity of Security Resident presence and the Park Ranger will
maintain a close liaison with the Marshalls during the early months of their
residency.
FISCAL IMPACT: City provides utilities at a cost of approximately $1,000
per year. Funds for this expenditure have been included in the annual budget.
