Daley Corporation, in their letter of September 12, 1983, requested
authorization to close East "H" Street for a period of two days for the
purpose of doing corrective work to the pavement surfacing.
RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt resolution authorizing the closure of
East "H" Street during working hours for the period of two consecutive days.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable.
DISCUSSION:
Daley Corporation completed the construction of public improvements on East
"H" Street between Hidden Vista Subdivision and Buena Vista Way on August 11,
1983. The City Council by Resolution 11347 accepted the public improvements
on August 16, 1983.
The acceptance of the public improvements on East "H" Street was for the
purpose of having the grand opening ceremonies on August 20, 1983, and to open
East "H" Street for vehicular traffic.
There exist irregularities in the pavement surface which create a continuous
series of ridges which make the riding quality poor. Daley Corporation has
agreed to take corrective measures to improve the riding quality of the road
by grading down the ridges in the pavement. The ground down areas will be
sealed with an asphaltic emulsion.
Because of the nature of this work, the equipment needed to perform the
abrasive grinding, and for the safety of the work and the public, Daley
Corporation has requested that "H" Street be closed for two consecutive days
during working hours. Closure would be conditioned that the work performed
will be done between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Engineering staff
recommends that permission to close "H" Street be granted.
Prior to doing the work, the City will place signs one week in advance to give
notice to the public of the street closure. The street will be closed to
through traffic at Hidden Vista Drive and at Buena Vista Way.
The street closure will be accomplished in the most expeditious manner to
provide for the least inconvenience to the public. "H" Street will be opened
to p.m. to 9:00 a.m. the two days that Daley Corporation is
working.
