HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1990-15503 RESOLUTION NO. 15503 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM BAY BOULEVARD LIGHTING AND MAINTENANCE DISTRICT RESERVE TO RELOCATE CHAIN-LINK FENCE ALONG BAY BOULEVARD The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the installation of chain-link fencing along Bay Boulevard in front of the Soup Exchange is required in order to discourage restaurant patrons from crossing Bay Boulevard at mid-street, and WHEREAS, since the installation of this fence, southbound vehicular traffic has failed to negotiate the curve in front of the restaurant on five occasions and substantial damage has occurred to the fencing and landscaping each time, and WHEREAS, to help mitigate the problem at this section of the road, the Traffic Division has added reflectors and signage, but accidents continue to occur, and WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation explored the idea of installing a crash barrier with continual reflectors along the curve to reduce the damage to the landscaping and fencing, and WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer recommends against using a crash barrier in this location and recommends an alternative solution of relocating the fence to the other park side paralleling the landscape, and WHEREAS, the cost of relocating the fence is $1,250, but the District does not have sufficient funds in the current operating budget for this expenditure, and WHEREAS, a special appropriation from the reserve account is necessitated for this repair. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby appropriate $1,250 from the Bay Boulevard Lighting and Maintenance District Reserve to relocate the chain-link fence along Bay Boulevard.
