RECOMMENDATION: Place Ordinance on first reading BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A DISCUSSION: The City and the County have an agreement whereby the City is required to pay any difference between the fee set forth in the City' s ordinance for health permits for food establishments and the fee required by the County. Normally we just adopt the same fee schedule as the County rather than pay any difference out of City funds. On June 7, 1983, the County revised their fee sche- dule and increased the fees. It is, therefore, necessary that the Council amend its fees to make them consistent with the new County ordinance. The County has additionally recommended that the City in amending its ordinance merely adopt the County legislation by reference. This would eliminate the necessity for changes in our Code every time the Board adjusts its fees. Since the Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing each time the fees are changed , the public will have an opportunity to be heard on this matter. This pro- posed amendment would eliminate the need for a second public hearing before the City Council and would save staff time and expense for both the City and the County. FISCAL IMPACT: Undetermined savings in staff time and costs of Code amendment.
