The contract was awarded by Council Resolution 10957 on July 27, 1982. The contract was executed by the City on September 16, 1982. A final inspection was made on August 11 , 1983. RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve resolution accepting public improvements. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: Daley Corporation was not able to commence work on this project until such time as our previous contractor, Signs and Pinnick, had completed the earthwork embankment for East "H" Street. On the completion of the earthwork, Otay Municipal Water Company installed a 12-inch water main between Hidden Vista Subdivision and Otay Lakes Road. Daley Corporation commenced their work of surface improvements on June 23, 1983. This work was done in accordance with the plans and specifications under inspection by the City of Chula Vista. All work was performed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The construction of East "H" street by Daley Corporation was completed on August 11, 1983. Due to the necessity of acceptance of this work prior to opening on August 20, 1983, of the roadway for public use, the contract actual costs have not been finalized. As soon as the actual construction costs can be correlated between Daley Corporation and the City of Chula Vista and all other projects costs determined, they will be submitted to the City Manager for his review and approval . It is anticipated that due to the changes in the structural street section, that a significant savings will be realized. At this time, we are estimating the construction cost to be approximately $422,740 a savings in excess of $93,958 from the original contract price of $516,698. FISCAL IMPACT: A portion of the funds for the construction of East "H" Street is expected to be reimbursed to the City through the development of the adjacent vacant properties now under the ownership of the Gersten Company. This reimbursement will occur as future subdivision agreements have been approved. Meanwhile, the City will be responsible for maintenance of the improvements.
