second half of 1982-83.
SAL CUELLAR, Park Maintenance Supervisor II, Parks & Recreation - This nomination states
that by Sal 's leadership and competency, the appearance and playing ability of the
golf course has greatly improved. During the recent flooding, Sal took a leadership role
as he returned to the golf course at all hours and remained constantly aware of what
the water was doing to the course and planning steps to be taken after the flooding. This
is only one example of Sal 's genuine attitude, initiative, reliability, and how he handles
responsibilities in an efficient and timely manner.
JOANN EVANGELIST, Clerk II, Planning - According to her nomination, Joann is a warm and
friendly person, not only to the public, but with her fellow employees. She is totally
reliable and conscientious, not only working her regular hours, but arriving early for
the standard work days as well as the Planning Commission meetings. Joann is consistently
finding ways to improve her job and department. She has conscientiously absorbed and
accepted additional duties with the retirement of a department employee and completes
ler work in an error-free manner with a minimum of direction and supervision.
DANIEL HERNANDES, Clerical Aide, Library - Mr. Hernandes was nominated for the extra
special attention he gives to the library patrons. His helpfulness goes beyond the
formal duties as he offers to carry books for our elderly and disabled citizens, he
retrieves keys locked in vehicles, comforts lost and frightened children, loans phone
'coney to children and performs deeds over and above what is expected of him. Daniel
performs his job with intensity and seldom needs supervision and can always be depended
upon to fill in for an absent employee. He is indeed a credit to the library.
