SUBMITTED BY: Director of Personn rrik (4/5ths Vote: Yes No X ) Alp 2EVIEWED BY: City Manager 34 the Bonus Incentive Program was implemented in 1981 through the Meet & Confer process, to recognize and reward employees for exceptional performance to the City. The employee :ommittee charged with selecting "BIP" recipients has recommended seven employees to receive the award for the second half of 1982-83. 2ECOMMENDATION: That Council recognize these exceptional employees and present each )f them with a $250 bonus check. 30ARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A )ISCUSSION: Twenty nine individuals were nominated by their peers, supervisor and/ )r department heads to receive a "BIP" award based on their job competency, reliability, initiative and the the award for the nominations an n second half of 1982-83. SAL CUELLAR, Park Maintenance Supervisor II, Parks & Recreation - This nomination states that by Sal 's leadership and competency, the appearance and playing ability of the golf course has greatly improved. During the recent flooding, Sal took a leadership role as he returned to the golf course at all hours and remained constantly aware of what the water was doing to the course and planning steps to be taken after the flooding. This is only one example of Sal 's genuine attitude, initiative, reliability, and how he handles responsibilities in an efficient and timely manner. JOANN EVANGELIST, Clerk II, Planning - According to her nomination, Joann is a warm and friendly person, not only to the public, but with her fellow employees. She is totally reliable and conscientious, not only working her regular hours, but arriving early for the standard work days as well as the Planning Commission meetings. Joann is consistently finding ways to improve her job and department. She has conscientiously absorbed and accepted additional duties with the retirement of a department employee and completes ler work in an error-free manner with a minimum of direction and supervision. DANIEL HERNANDES, Clerical Aide, Library - Mr. Hernandes was nominated for the extra special attention he gives to the library patrons. His helpfulness goes beyond the formal duties as he offers to carry books for our elderly and disabled citizens, he retrieves keys locked in vehicles, comforts lost and frightened children, loans phone 'coney to children and performs deeds over and above what is expected of him. Daniel performs his job with intensity and seldom needs supervision and can always be depended upon to fill in for an absent employee. He is indeed a credit to the library. Sue can always be depended upon to give that "extra mile" in her own gracious and professional manner. The nominator feels the :ity is very fortunate to have Sue as an employee.
