Item 17
Meeting Date 2/04/86
ITEM TITLE: Resolution/a
,, /Approving Payment of $1,876 to Lee Burch for Costs
Associated with the Relocation of Greg Rogers House
and Appropriating Funds Therefore
SUBMITTED BY: Director of Finance ° )
(4/5ths Vote: Yes X No
REVIEWED BY: City Manager
At the Council meeting of January 28, 1986, Lee Burch requested that the City
assist him in paying some unexpected costs associated with relocation of
the Greg Rogers House. The costs included a $2,702.38 charge from SDG&E
for overtime pay incurred and $1,050 from Hansen House Moving for extra
time spent in moving the home.
RECOMMENDATION:
That Council approve payment of $1,876 to Lee Burch and appropriate funds
from the General Fund unappropriated reserve.
BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable.
DISCUSSION:
SDG&E and Hansen House Moving claim the additional compensation they are
requesting was necessitated by reason of the City's failure to appropriately
trim trees along the route, which resulted in time delays in completing the
move. SDG&E claims up to five hours additional time of eight employees and
equipment was necessary (at time and one half for the first two hours and
double time for all overtime over two hours) , and Hansen House Movers claim
similar additional hours for their crews was also necessary.
The City Council listened to a presentation by Mr. Burch at last week's
Council meeting and agreed that the City should bear partial responsibility
for the delays in the move and the resulting additional costs. The City
Council directed staff to return with a resolution to approve payment of
one-half ($1,876) of the additional costs incurred by Mr. Burch.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Cost to the City is $1,876 to be appropriated from the unappropriated reserve
of the General Fund.
